A professional psychologist says that a public proposal is something that can ruin the intimacy of this special moment and ruin the whole experience for the other person. It can lead to potential problems for the couple and gives the impression that people’s comments and opinions are more important than the relationship itself.

Recently, an influencer known as Valerio proposed to his girlfriend in Rome while strangers were watching and taking pictures of their special moment. However, you don’t need to speak Italian to understand the girl’s reaction; she rejected the proposal. One of the comments even translated her words for us, explaining that she said, “I was not expecting this! I’m not ready… That’s why we came to Rome?”

Even with this turn of events Valerio still decided to post the video, joking that Cartier has a 30-day return policy. It was uploaded on Christmas Eve and had over 14 million views. Of course, the comment section did not disappoint. One viewer said they would accept the proposal in public and speak to their partner later on and reject it in private.

Others defended the girl by saying that Valerio should have known that his girlfriend would feel uncomfortable being watched by hundreds of people. Another comment stated that the two were apparently on different love levels and should break up. Someone even decided to share their personal story of saying yes at the top of the London Eye and then breaking up with their partner seven months later.

However, Morgan Fairchild was well-known due to her notable appearances in “Dallas”, “Flamingo Road” and “Falcon Crest”. The actress is now approaching the 70s mark, but what her fans may not know is that Fairchild learned kung-fu after being held hostage twice.

Raquel Welch, born to an American mother and a Bolivian father, is still making us do a double take at the age of 75. Welch, born Jo-Raquel Tejada, earned her breakthrough role in 1966 when she was asked to starr in “Fantastic Voyage” alongside Stephen Boyd. Since then, Welch signed a contract with 20th Century Fox and landed some of the biggest roles in Hollywood, including “Myra Breckinridge” (1970).

Farrah Fawcett’s trademark blonde curls and piercing blue eyes made her one of the most recognizable faces in the 70s, especially after her “Charlie’s Angels” gig alongside Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith. Fawcett will always be remembered for her successful acting career and beautiful persona. She met her first husband, Lee Majors, as she appeared on “The Six Million Dollar Man”. Sadly, after a long battle with cancer, Fawcett passed away at the young age of 62.

Catherine Bach definitely started the trend of insuring beautiful body parts! After her infamous performance as Daisy Duke on “The Dukes of Hazzard”, Bach’s legs gained so much attention that she insured them for a whopping $1,000,000 – and that is probably the most expensive set of legs to this day! Prior to her booming TV and film career, Bach worked as a tailor for theater groups to earn some extra money. Since 2012, she took on the role of Anita lawson on “The Young and The Restless”.

You probably recognize that fiery red hair from “Married… With Children”, where Katey Sagal played Peggy Bundy. From 2008 until 2014, Sagal took on the role of Gemma Teller Morrow in “The Sons of Anarchy”. The show was written and created by Sagal’s husband, Kirt Setter.

Molly Ringwald was definitely the first of her kind – she wanted to show everyone in the world that she was having fun being a celebrity and she put in the effort to look good while doing it. You can probably also recognize Pam Grier from her appearances on “Miami Vice”, “The Bronx”, and “Above The Law”, where she acted alongside Steven Seagal.

Lisa Whelchel, best known for her performance on “The Facts of Life”, embarked upon her acting career in the 80s, but shortly after went on to be a musician. Having proven her talents to the world, Whelchel earned herself a nomination for a Grammy (Best Inspirational Performance) for her Christian album back in 1984. Most recently, Whelchel has spoken out about her passion for writing, and having written 10 books so far, she shows no signs of slowing down. In 2012, Whelchel earned second place on “Survivor: Philippines”.

Jodie Foster is a name that will never be forgotten in Hollywood. From her teenage years, Foster has been respected by some of the most globally renowned actors in the business. Foster’s breakthrough role was in the film “Taxi Driver”, directed by Martin Scorsese, where she played alongside Robert DeNiro. In 1988, Foster won her first Academy Award for her performance in “The Accused”. Today, the former actress works behind the camera and has two children with spouse Alexandra Hedison.

Daryl Hannah first gained worldwide recognition for her performance as a mermaid in Ron Howard’s “Splash” back in 1984. However, Hannah made her serious debut in 1978 when she starred in horror film “The Fury”. Mostly known for her wispy voice and almost perfect features, Hannah played an assassin in Tarantino’s film “Kill Bill”, which earned her a Saturn Award. Aside from her acting career, Hannah is very involved with environmental activism; she also went on to create two board games.

Maggie Smith, best known for her performance in BBC’s “Downtown Abbey”, has an acting career spanning across six decades; she doesn’t seem to be slowing down, either! Smith, now with a Dame status, has over 50 film credits to her name and is one of the most loved and recognized actresses in United Kingdom’s film industry. Prior to her career in acting, Dame Smith was acting on stage and in 2012, received a Stratford Shakespeare Festival Legacy Award. You may also recognize Maggie Smith from the Harry Potter series (2001-2011).

Sarandon first started her acting career in the 70s and is best known for her debut role in the cult classic film, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”. Since then, Sarandon went on to dominate the industry in film, television, and even Broadway, proving herself to be deserving of an Academy Award as well as a BAFTA. Sarandon went on to be more involved in political and social activism, and is married to actor Tim Robbins, with whom she had a daughter – Eva Amurri – who is also an actress today.

Diane Keaton gained worldwide recognition after starring in “Looking for Mr. Goodbar” back in 1977; however, since then, every generation recognizes her for a different role. Now at the age of 95, we can freely say that Betty White has the longest spanning career in television amongst all women in performance history! To this day, White keeps herself occupied with projects, and back in the day was the first female to produce her own sitcom. Known to spread her humor and wit across more than seven decades, White is most recognized for her performances in “Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “Golden Girls”. In 1981, White lost her husband to cancer.

Angela Bassett was always best known for her roles in biopic films, however after playing Tina Turner in “What’s Love Got To Do With It?”, Bassett became an award-winning actress. Having won a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for that role, Bassett went on to portray the roles of Katherine Jackson in “The Jacksons: An American Dream”, Betty Shabazz in “Malcolm X”, and Rosa Parks in “The Rosa Parks Story”. As you can see, her career had an impact in both entertainment and politics.

When one asks what a Hollywood icon looks like, you would probably refer to Audrey Hepburn. The epitome of class and beauty, Hepburn became an icon after her role in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, which made her recognizable beyond belief. The American Film Institute named Hepburn the third greatest female film star, and her awards only go to show how worthy she was of such an honor. Halle Berry may be known for being a beauty icon, but the truth is she made history by being the first African-American woman to ever win an Oscar for Best Actress, specifically for her role in “Monster’s Ball”. Prior to becoming an actress, Berry was a model and enrolled in several beauty pageants, winning the first runner-up in Miss USA in 1986. At the age of 50, Berry represents the “Revlon” cosmetics brand.

Do not be fooled by her name – Dawn French is a British comedian who has been nominated seven time for the British Academy Television Award. French is known for writing as well as starring in “French and Saunders”, a sketch comedy show, alongside Jennifer Saunders. Furthermore, having made a strong debut, French later played Geraldine Granger on “The Vicar of Dibley”, as well as Fat Lady in the film “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”. Since then, the offers just kept rolling in, and Kidman has had a successful acting career since. The award-winning actress is also known for her roles in “Days of Thunder”, “Far and Away”, and “Batman Forever”. Since then, Kidman has gotten an Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of Satine in “Moulin Rouge”. The actress’ infamous marriage to Tom Cruise ended in 2006, and since then Kidman married Keith Urban.

Oprah Winfrey is a force to be reckoned with since she is credited by most as “The Queen of All Media”, mostly due to her infamous talk show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. Not only is Winfrey the richest African-American in the world, she was also the first of her race to become a billionaire in North America. If that’s not impressive, between 1986 and 2011, Winfrey became the most influential woman in the world; her show was the highest-rated of its kind in all of history.

Brooke Shields, a former child star, has a career spanning across many decades due to its early start. At the age of 12, Shields appeared in “Pretty Baby”, which was considered controversial for her age. Shields went on to have a massively successful career, even though she took a break from acting while attending college, namely Princeton University, where she got a degree in Romance Languages. Shields still makes minor appearances today but mostly focuses on raising her two daughters.

Mexican actress Salma Hayek embarked upon her career in Mexico where she appeared on the telenovela “Teresa”, as well as the film “El Callejo de Los Milagros”. Hayek went on to pursue the American entertainment industry, moved to America, and became a name known to most. Some of Hayek’s most notable performances include “Dusk Till Dawn”, “Desperado”, “Dogma” and “Wild Wild West”. Her biggest role to day was in the film “Frida”, where she played Frida Kahlo.

Sally Field has been our favorite all-American sweetheart since she portrayed the optimist surfer girl on “Gidget”. Throughout her career, Field has become a famous name and face in the industry, as well as an Academy Award-winning one. More recently, Fields has demonstrated her talents behind the camera; the actress moved to directing and created her first mini-series on HBO, “From The Earth to the Moon”. Fields’ work earned her a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in 2014.

This fact will probably shock you most of all, but Stacey Dash is in fact 50 years old! Dash became best known as Dionne Davenport in the film adaptation of “Clueless”; her character, unlike her, is an ever-so-glamarous teenager. Since then, Dash has appeared in films like “Renaissance Man”, “View from the Top”, and “Moving, Mo’ Money”. Dash has recently reshifted her attention to politics, and started co-hosting “Outnumbered” on Fox News.

In 1984, Vanessa Williams was the first African American woman to win the Miss America beauty pageant, which earned her a massive career in modeling. Sadly, the title was taken away from Williams as a result of unauthorized nude photos of the star being leaked to “Penthouse” magazine. Williams attempted to kick-start a career in music, but found herself mostly on television. Her notable recent projects include “Ugly Betty” and “Desperate Housewives”.

Julianne Moore embarked upon her career in 1990, which is when she took on the role of Susan on “Tales from the Darkside: The Movie”. However, it wasn’t until “Short Cuts” where she became a recognized actress in Hollywood. Moore went on to appear in “The Lost World: Jurassic Park”, as well as “The Kids Are Alright”. Most recently, Moore was awarded an Academy Award for her performance in “Still Alice”, which received a lot of critical acclaim.

English actress, singer and glamour model – Samantha Fox – started her career at the very young age of 16. Not many people, even on this list, could say they started their acting careers as babies. Well, Tina Louise can! Louise began her acting career at the age of two, but only went on to train as an actress when she turned 17. Louise is an undeniable beauty, which in turn means she was offered many modeling jobs throughout her career. However, Louise went on to portray Ginger in the show “Gilligan’s Island”, which to this day is her most notable role.

Barbara Eden realized she had a thing for stage since she was a young girl, singing all the solo parts in the church choir. Once Eden reached her teenage years, she began singing with local bands charging $10 per night. By the time Eden was 16, she realized she wanted to have a career in acting. To this day, her most memorable role was was Jeannie in “I Dream of Jeannie”.

Brigitte Bardot raised the bar for classical beauty and is credited to be one of the most beautiful women from the 60s and 70s. Bardot started out her career as a French model and first appeared on television in 1952, where she took on several roles in comedy. Sophia Loren, dubbed of the most famous actresses and models of all time, made history due to her very distinguished appearance, specifically different to the women of her era. Loren began her acting career when she was just 15 and instantly shot to fame, signing a 5-year contract with Paramount Pictures. Later on in her life, Loren took a break from the spotlight to start a family.

Lucy Lawless’ career is best described as multidimensional since the star proved herself in acting, dancing and singing. Michelle Pfeiffer was not one of those celebrities who started slow; her instant success was caused by her massive role in the gangster classic “Scarface”, where she played alongside Al Pacino himself. Since then, Pfeiffer took on many projects, but not all of them were successful. Phoebe Cates was pretty much born into stardom since her massive family was all in the industry. Cates turned out to be a natural when it came to acting, and at some point she was the actress everyone was trying to sign. Some of Cates’ biggest successes include “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and another massively successful project, “Gremlins”. In 1989, Cates married actor Kevin Kline, and at this point of her life focuses more on her family, having left her acting career behind.

Heather Locklear may appear like she is far too young for this list, but her youthful looks show no signs of aging, and her perfect figure is too difficult not to talk about. Locklear became known for her most famous role in “Melrose place”, which is considered to be her rise to fame. After being discovered, Andress was signed by Paramount Pictures, and since then she has been featured on a myriad of lists of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. Andress was romantically linked to actors like James Dean, Harry Hamlin, and John Derek. She has one son.

Chaka Khan, born Yvette Maies Stevens, has made a huge impact in the music industry throughout her career. Having started solo off the bat in 1978, by 1984, Khan released her 6th studio album, called “I Feel For You”. In 1998, Khan signed with Prince and embarked upon his tour with him. Chaka Khan was born in the Hyde Park area, and is often referred to as “an island in the middle of madness”. Khan has been married twice and has two children.

Faye Dunaway, born Dorothy, proved herself to be an incredibly special talent when she was the first person to be awarded the Leopard Club award, a very prestigious acting award which honors stars who have left an impact on the industry. Dunaway’s breakthrough role was in “The Happening”, but what gained her worldwide attention was her performance in “Bonnie and Clyde”. At the time, however, the film was considered to be very controversial as critics stated it “glorified murders”; however, today, the film is recognized as a Hollywood classic.

Twiggy, born Lesley Lawson, is a British model from the 60s, known for her tiny frame and massive eyes. Twiggy became known as a British icon, particularly throughout the 60s and the 70s. Her androgynous hair and long eyelashes were the definition of the swinging 60s. After her modeling career, Twiggy began to act both on stage and on television, but preferred to stay within the modeling business.

Julie Newmar was born in Los Angeles in 1993. Newmar’s most notable role was Katrin Sveg in Broadway’s “The Marriage Go Round”, which earned her a Tony Award for the Best Featured Actress. After that success, Newmar took on the role of Catwoman in the superhero classic “Batman” – a television show very known in the 60s. In the 70s, Newmar pivoted her career and focused on other businesses, where she received two patents, specifically for Pantyhouse and for a braiser.

Erin Moran, best known for her portrayal of Joanie Cunningham on the show “Happy Days”, went on to star in the spinoff “Joanie Loves Chachi”. However, since that gig, Moran did not take on many roles and stayed relatively out of the spotlight. In 2008, Moran appeared on “Celebrity Fit Club”; she has not taken on any projects since 2012. Moran and three other cast members filed a suit against CBS, claiming they were deprived of merchandising profits they deserved. Sadly, Moran passed in April 2017.

Lori Singer, born to a very musical family in Texas, was first noticed when she played a dancer between 1982 and 1983 on the television series “Fame”. As a matter of fact, the role on “Fame” was created especially for her. Singer went on to prove herself both in dancing, singing and acting, which landed her the role of Ariel Moor – the lead part in the classic film “Footloose”. Some of her other notable performances include “The Falcon”, “The man With One Red Shoe”, and “The Snowman”.

Helen Mirren started out as a very young, classy British actress, who from the National Youth Theatre was personally invited to join the cast at the Royal Shakespeare Company. One of her most notable roles was Diana in “All’s Well That Ends Well”; however, she went on to wow the theatre industry. In 1970, director John Goldschmidt created a documentary in Mirren’s honor, titled “Doing Her Own Thing”, which talked about Mirren’s contribution to theater. Most recently, Mirren moved on to film.

Just like several other actresses on this list, Kelly Le Brock started her career far from slowly. Le Brock’s debut role was in “The Woman In Red”, where she appeared alongside Gene Wilder. Lumley’s breakthrough role was in “The New Avengers” back in 1979, where she played Purdey. Some of her other notable performances include the show “Sapphire & Steel”, as well as “Doctor Who”. The two time winner of Best Female Vocalist in the UK, Newton-John continued to record music throughout her career, making her a true pop icon.

Jacqueline Bisset was a dancer before she began acting, but found it was easier to support herself as a model. Her first film role was in 1966’s Cul-de-sac, but she really hit the big time when she was cast in Airplane, a role she handled wit facility opposite the well-known singer, Dean Martin. Bisset hasn’t slowed down since, and is still appearing in films even at 72. In 2010, Bisset was honored by the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy with the Legion D’honneur, which celebrated her work as an actress.

Tonya Harding was an American figure skater who gained renown in the early 1990s, when she landed one of the most difficult jumps one can perform on the ice, the triple axel. Her competitive legacy was overshadowed, however, when she was linked to an attack on fellow American skater, Nancy Kerrigan. Kerrigan bounced back from the injuries, showing up Harding in the 1994 Olympics. Harding lives a quiet life away from the spotlight now, but recently had a film made about her career.

Lynda Carter made her name playing Wonder Woman when the female superhero was given her own TV show in the 1970s. Before she was known for her super human abilities, Carter was a pageant queen who had been crowned as Miss World during the 1972 competition. The show ran for four years before going off the air, but Carter is still most frequently associated with the role. Carter stepped away from the spotlight in the 1990s, but did open up publicly in 2008 about seeking treatment for alcoholism.

Mary Tyler Moore became a television icon before she had a show of her own when she played Laurie Petrie, Dick Van Dyke’s on screen wife in the Dick Van Dyke Show. She also starred in the film, Thoroughly Modern Millie, before breaking ground in a TV show of her own that followed Moore as a single woman working in a newsroom. Mary Tyler Moore was an iconic actress, who continued working until the final years of her life. She passed away in January 2017.

Maybe best known for being married eight times rather than for her acting career, this should take nothing away from the fact that Elizabeth Taylor was a Hollywood legend. Some of her most notable roles came in movies such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? However, her achievements weren’t just resorted to movies. Taylor was an activist in AIDS awareness and was even awarded a Presidential Citizens Medal as a result. Sadly, she passed away in 2011.

Back in 1989 was when Erika Eleniak burst onto the scene with her appearance in Playboy magazine. It wouldn’t take long before she nailed her debut role in the TV show Charles in Charge. That same year, the beautiful model was asked to join the cast of the classic series Baywatch. She played the character of Shauni McClain from 1989 to 1992. Many forget though that she actually made her first acting role in the classic movie E.T. People will also remember for her appearance in the reality show The Real Gilligan’s Island.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Nancy McKeon’s most memorable role came in the 80s sitcom The Facts of Life as the classic character Jo Polniaczek. She was cast in the role after the casting director of the show noticed her ability to cry on cue in a Hallmark commercial. Although she was lined up to star in the movie Working Girl after her role on the show came to an end, McKeon, missed out to Sandra Bullock.

Some of the most iconic pieces of work that Mia Farrow had roles in back in the 60s included the soap opera Peyton Place, as well as Roman Polanski’s eery horror Rosemary’s Baby. Like many celebrities though, her personal and professional lives intertwined on many occasions. She was romantically involved with the likes of Woody Allen and Frank Sinatra. Shirley MacLaine rose to prominence with her 1959 film, Ask Any Girl, and her 1960 film, The Apartment, winning two BAFTA Awards for Best Foreign Actress. Boasting an impressive resume, MacLaine has also earned five Golden Globe Awards, and in 1998, was granted the prestigious Golden Cecil B. DeMille Award. In what she would later describe as open marriage, MacLaine tied the knot with businessman Steve Parker in 1954. Their marriage lasted until 1982. MacLaine released her book titled “I’m Over All That” in 2011.

Julie Andrews is most famous for her role in Mary Poppins, for which she earned an Academy Award for Best Actress. A year later Andrews followed up Mary Poppins with another iconic performance as Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music, winning a Golden Globe for Best Actress. Following a 21-year hiatus, Andrews returned for a concert in London on May 8, 2010. Andrews has been married twice and most recently released a preschool series on Netflix in 2017.

Bo Derek is most famous for an iconic scene in the 1979 American film, 10, where she is seen running along the beach in slo-motion. 10 marked Derek’s breakthrough role and earned the actress a Golden Globe nomination for Best New Star. Bo married director John Derek in 1976 and the two worked together on four separate films in the 1980’s. They remained together until John’s untimely death 1998. As of 2002, Derek has been romantically involved with actor John Corbett.

Beginning her career as a model, Susan Dey made the transition to acting in 1970, with her breakthrough role as Laurie Partridge on The Partridge Family. She stayed on The Partridge Family until 1974. Laurie Partridge would later become known as the role that defined Dey’s career as an actress. Though she was mostly featured on television, Dey also ventured into film, working with Charlton Heston on 1972’s Skyjacked. Dey won a Golden Globe Award for her performance as Grace Van Owen in L.A. Law.

Marisa Tomei came onto the scene in 1992, with her role in My Cousin Vinny. Tomei’s performance earned herself an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Tomei has remained relevant, appearing in numerous recent films such as 2003’s Anger Management, 2007’s Wild Hogs, and 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. In addition to her achievements in television and film, Tomei has also tried her hand in theater, with performances in 2016’s The Rose Tattoo, and 2017’s How to Transcend a Happy Marriage.

Cheryl Ladd had her breakthrough performance in ABC’s “Charlie’s Angels”, and went onto become a highly sought-after actress. Ladd also ventured out and became a singer, author, and Broadway star, as well as continuing her profitable acting career on screen. More recently, Ladd appeared in the 2017 thriller “Unforgettable”, as well as taking on a number of smaller roles on TV shows and TV movies. At 65-years-old, Cheryl still looks amazing and shows no signs of slowing down in her career.

Balk first came onto our screens in the theatrical film debut as Dorothy Gale in Disney’s 1985 film Return to Oz. Following this, Fairuza starred in the supernatural horror film The Craft, and audiences simply could not get enough of her. At 43-years-old, Balk has opted to stay out of the acting industry and has instead turned to signing and art. In 2011, Balk created mixed media sculptures, inspired by songs, some of which were debuted in Los Angeles and New York.

Goldie Hawn is one of the Hollywood classics and started her career on the comedy Good Morning, World. Hawn appeared to make a career from playing on the ditzy blonde persona and she became favorable among audiences. In the 60s and 70s, Hawn went on to appear in films including the popular There’s a Girl In My Soup, and Cactus Flower, before starring in Private Benjamin which won her an Academy Award nomination. Hawn has been with Kurt Russell since 1983.

Who could forget Julia Robert’s best friend in Pretty Woman, Kit? Although Kit didn’t have a huge role in the blockbuster movie, she had some lines which proved integral to understanding the backstory and underlying message of the movie. Since her Pretty Woman days, Giacomo went on to star in popular TV show, NBC sitcom Just Shoot Me, from 1997 until 2003, and more recently, she has taken on a few smaller roles on screen, including the recurring role of Dr. Grace Confalone on the CBS drama NCIS .

The original Baywatch was somewhat of a phenomenon in the 90s and everyone could not get enough of the gorgeous Yasmine Bleeth. Prior to filming Baywatch, Bleeth had a stint on soap opera One Life to Live, but these were among the biggest roles in her career. Although Yasmine had some smaller TV roles in the late 90s, Bleeth struggled with substance addiction and checked into rehab in the early 2000s, and has stayed out of the public eye since 2003.

Victoria Principal, born Viki Ree Principal, is an American actress who was originally raised in Japan as a result of her father’s job within the United States Air Force. Principal moved around a lot throughout her childhood, including London, Florida, and Puerto Rico, which resulted in her jumping between schools. Principal embarked upon her career at the age of 5 and started out in TV commercials, but when she first moved to Hollywood in 1970, she was completely broke. She has since become the most beloved actress.
